Partnerships with parents

We recognise that parents are their children’s first and most enduring educators and carers.

Our aim is to work in close partnership with parents to complement their approach to childcare, particularly to assist children when learning new skills such as weaning, potty training, reading and writing.  The closer the parent and nursery team work in partnership, the more rewarding the child’s time in nursery will be.

The nursery door is always open to all parents and carers for informal drop-ins. You will also be invited to regular parents meetings to discuss your child’s progress. At the end of each day parents with younger children will receive a ‘Day in the Life’ sheet which gives you a brief summary of what your child has eaten, how long they slept for and other relevant information. They will also capture any key moments of your child’s day to share with you.

A short film about help with childcare costs for working parents

This short film helps to explain in simple terms some of the support available to working parents or people wanting to return to work.

The film provides a useful summary of the choices available to families and will point you in the right direction for more information and help if needed. It talks in particular about the basic principles of the Childcare Element of Working Tax Credits and how it could work for you.

Tax Credits can be a confusing subject but hopefully taking a few minutes to watch this short film rather than reading through pages of information will help you understand the choices available. You may even be surprised at the help that is available for working parents!
